Downhill kayaking debuted at Veterans Memorial Recreation Ski Area in Franklin on Saturday during the first annual Boat Bash Snow Crash. Crews worked around the clock the previous couple days to make enough snow to build the course. The all-day event featured casual sledders, competitive races, food, vendors, raffles and live music. About 30 racers had signed up for the competition by 3:30 p.m. and attendence was pushing 80. Proceeds from the event went to both the Franklin Outing Club and Mill City Park project.
