The Sustainable Learning Initiative at Franklin Falls is a program of Colby-Sawyer College in partnership with the PermaCityLife that provides experiential learning opportunities for students to explore, design, and develop sustainable solutions to real and evolving community needs in the City of Franklin.
Via multiple partnerships with stakeholders in the City of Franklin, Colby-Sawyer College has developed the architecture to support unique real life learning experiences for their students that also have tangible, positive impacts. The initiative pairs the learning outcomes of an assignment, a whole class or a major course of study in majors across campus with the actual needs of organizations in Franklin that are shepherding a sustainable community redevelopment process. In support of this work the college has also launched a unique three-year degree program, B.S. in Community-Based Sustainability anchored around revitalization efforts in Franklin
In 2016-2017 academic year, over 150 students from these institutions were involved in various projects !
